Based on years of experience, with a history dating back to the post-war period, A.J.Gammond Ltd. has evolved into the provider of some of the most advanced trenching equipment to the utilities and construction industries within the U.K. We pride ourselves on having the most modern fleet of trenchers which enables us to out perform other contractors as we incur less downtime. The pure design and running capabilities of these newer machines is also way ahead of their predecessors causing us to be able to take on challenges that many others would turn down. An example of this is shown below, where we were asked to dig 22km across The Burren in County Clare, Ireland. An area famous for its limestone geology. The job was taken on and completed within 5 months. A timescale that would never of been touched by any other method. The trenching process also meant that disruption to the road was kept to a minimum, keeping re-instatement costs down.

Our machines are fitted with truck loading conveyors to remove the spoil directly from site, however the option is also available to discharge it alongside the trench if it will be required for backfill. This option is particularly useful on cross country projects where the material produced by the trencher is used for fine fill around the pipe thus eliminating the need to import any bedding material. Our machines are used on many projects for the sole purpose of producing fine material as this is much more cost effective and environmentally friendly in contrast to importing the material from other areas.

Not all trenchers are the same. Our machines are bought to a specification and not a price. Each one is built to give the best digging performance and value to the client possible. Our 50 tonne Tesmec 1150 chainsaw machine is fitted with an on-board conputer which actually "learns" the digging conditions and adjusts its operating parameters to maximise use of its available power and therefore maximise output.

Our experience in running these machines also proves to be a great advantage whilst on site. Our knowledge of wear parts such as the picks themselves means we are able to keep costs as low as possible, whilst digging with the most efficiency. As ground conditions change, different demands are placed upon the machine. Its not as easy as it looks!!

Bucket wheel attachments are also possible for our machines. These could be encorporated into large pipeline projects as these are capable of digging rock up to 1.2m wide and mixed/hard soils up to 1.8m. Contact us in advance if you wish to use the bucket wheel as a greater lead time is needed to build the machine to trench spec.
